QM can provide bespoke assembly fixtures for any industry. For example, in the picture below is an assembly fixture for one of our automotive clients to assemble an Instrument Panel Beam. The beam is loaded into the fixture by an operator, which is located by two datum positions. Once located, clamps are automatically applied, holding the beam in place. Keyence sensors confirm the part is seated correctly in the nest by monitoring height. The operator can rotate the fixture through 270 degrees and fixture can be locked into any position, this gives the operator ergonomic advantages when dressing the component on the beam. The fixture is counter-balanced to ensure a safe and smooth rotation. A HUD bracket is loaded by the operator into a Poke-Yoke fixture, Keyence sensors confirm the part is seated correctly in the nest by monitoring height/depth. Fixings are inserted and tightened in sequence by a hand-operated Desoutter screwdriver. Encoders mounted to the pantograph guide the operator through the sequencing process. The fixture assembly system will be controlled via a Siemens S7-1500 PLC with supporting 6†HMI display.
